Maciej Bernhardt was born in 1953. From 1972 to 1977, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in the Faculty of Painting in the studio of Prof. Jerzy Nowosielski. In 1977, he obtained a diploma with distinction and, since that time, has carried on continuous artistic activity focused on several parallel cycles encompassing the broadly-conceived spectrum of Realist painting.

Since 1990, he has painted several dozen monumental paintings and made an array of study tours in India. He is involved in painting, drawing, printmaking and photography.

The artist’s works are to be found in the collections of the National Museum in Kraków, the city collections of Darmstadt and Nuremberg, as well as Cleveland, and also in many private collections in Germany, France, Holland, Austria, England, the United States and Poland.
